DNS Redirector va acţiona ca server DNS pentru clienţii de reţea, indiferent de sistemul lor de operare. Acest software ar trebui să fie întotdeauna primul server DNS pe care clienţii utilizează şi nu este instalat în spatele alte servere DNS.

Numai atunci când este utilizat ca un redirector iniţială (de obicei, într-un mediu wireless hotspot pentru a afişa o pagină de bun venit sau publicitate), masina ruleaza DNS Redirector şi toţi clienţii de reţea trebuie să fie în acelaşi spaţiu adresa IP şi nu pot fi separate de un router sau firewall.

Acest lucru este necesar pentru a asigura DNS Redirector clientii pot urmari aderarea şi ieşirea din reţea.
